Closest city to the trailhead:
Kingston, Idaho
Average Distance of hike:
6.1 miles
Why do you recommend it?
This hike is easy to get to and offers both easy and challenging areas to enjoy the creek as it winds its way through the forest. I could just sit and listen to the water as it rushes past or I could get serious and put on some waders and make my way up the creek through some small gorges. While the endpoint of the hike doesn’t have any great viewpoint you can just hike as far as you want and take in the fun details of the cascading creek.
What was most noteworthy?
In the spring the water flow is pretty strong and, if you’re a photographer, there are places all along the creek to get creative with a camera. It gave me the feeling that I’m the only one that has found each little spot. With some extra work you can get to some great spots that most people will not venture.
Are there restrooms?
No

Know before you go:
Any time you are hiking in the wild you have the potential to encounter wild animals. Whether it is bear, mountain lion or even moose or wolves, come prepared. Bear spray and tick repellent is recommended. There are many down trees in this area so always use caution when stepping on a down tree, they will be slick.
Where to celebrate after:
The Snake Pit
How do you get there?
From Kingston, Idaho take the Coeur d’Alene River Road 13 miles north. When you see a sign saying “Entering Idaho National Forest” the trailhead is an immediate right.
