Why do you recommend it?
It’s a beautiful, lush and easy hike through old growth cedar forests with the reward of a stunning waterfall. The trail follows above Upper Priest River through some of the most gorgeous backcountry North Idaho has to offer. There are great camp spots near the falls.
What was most noteworthy?
Upper Priest River Falls aka American Falls is the end goal and totally worth the 8-plus-mile hike in. On a hot day, the large pool under and around the falls is perfect for a dip and to wash off the trail grime.
