Colors and textures make a statement in this alluring river home

Wrought iron, corrugated steel, stone and tile flow from the exterior throughout the interior of this impressive 4,064-square-foot home. Deep greys and blacks pop against light-colored walls, creating a sophisticated, masculine feel.

“If there is a category for sexiest house, this would be it,” said the home’s interior designer Martita Jara Ferrer, who worked closely with the homeowners Nick Forsberg and Emily Beutler to create just the right look.

Large 8-foot black doors with matching casings were designed to help add a dramatic feel to the entrance of the home. As the doors swing open, eyes are drawn toward the radius staircase that curves along the corridor, making the 20-foot ceilings feel even more impressive.

A massive fireplace wrapped with grey polished quartzite against modern black slate reaching the steep ceiling is breathtaking against the ambient lighting. That same black slate, also found on the exterior, was used throughout the home to add texture and create cohesiveness.

“If I had to pick my favorite area of the house it would be the bar area,” says Beutler, a real estate agent with Century 21.

“We travel a lot and admire a lot of the finishes in swanky hotels and wanted to bring that into our house. I think we nailed it with the bar and even our master bathroom.”

“The outdoor entertaining area is adjacent to the kitchen and connected via sliding glass doors to provide a pass through to an exterior bar top like (we) found in some of the modern hotels we visited in Bali,” says Forsberg, co-owner of Atlas Building Group.
