The view was the easy part.
“We saw it, fell in love, and made an offer right then,” said Deanna Dunn, who with her husband Jeff, took possession of a lot in the hills above Post Falls. “There was a pad, and that was about it.”
Based on the view alone, it was the perfect place to build their dream home. But there was still the matter of how to make their dream into a reality. For that, they contacted Dale and Jessica Cargile from North Ridge Contracting.

For the custom home builder, a significant challenge to the building process was the site work. A geologic survey showed that a previous owner had buried a lot of organic material, which could cause stability issues. North Ridge needed to strip 9 feet of topsoil. There was excavation and even blasting of rocks required to make sure everything was level, and all the footings were deep and secure.

“It’s a testament to Dale’s knowledge that all of this happened,” Jeff Dunn said. “It took longer than we thought but the payoff is a nice home and a view we love.”
The one-story 3,448-square-foot home makes smart use of space. There are three bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms and small upper bonus area. Three garage bays, including a larger-sized one for a boat or RV, offer plenty of room for vehicles and storage.

The Cargiles worked closely with the Dunns on décor and design, Jessica said. There’s a good blending of elegance and rustic touches with darker wood tones, plus lots of brighter accents.

“The main factor was the view, and we tried to maximize this everywhere,” she said.
The home boasts an open floorplan that allows for easy entertaining. The kitchen flows into the living room with design elements, such as matching patterns, tying the spaces together. A central fireplace draws the eye, creating a dramatic focal point while anchoring the space. Extra-large windows create interest and frame the stunning view. And a side yard with a firepit, is the perfect touch for relaxing outside.

The Dunns said they enjoyed working with North Ridge Contracting, and the feeling was mutual.
“We had a lot of emails and a lot of calls, and even ended up redrawing the design four or five times,” Dale Cargile said. “The big turning point was when we found the exact layout that gave them the ‘wow’ they needed.” N
