Bright tones, clean lines and a modern, fresh and creative look are key aesthetics of this custom build by Rosenberger Construction, which is generally known for its Northwest rustic style homes.
“We really made it feel like a nice, quiet retreat,” Shelley Rosenberger said of the 4,203-square-foot, four-bedroom and 3.5 bath home.
Rosenberger Construction along with interior designer Gregg Johnson of Ironstone Furniture and Fire worked together to create a forever home for their clients.
“Some clients may tell us they’re only planning to stay for five years and then move or sell, but helping someone with their forever home takes things to a new level,” Johnson said. “You want to make sure everything is perfect.” N
Instead of building on a new lot in a new neighborhood, something common in this area for new construction, the owners wanted their home to be part of an already well-established neighborhood, with mature landscaping as well as larger trees. Though the interior is brighter and more modern, the exterior does have some rustic touches. Each room features unique lighting fixtures such as the round chandelier pieces. Another focal point of the open-flow room is a three-sided verbena-style fireplace. It includes two walls of glass and a system of vents that keeps the glass cool while sending warm air into the rest of the room.Because the homeowners love to cook, they requested a spacious kitchen. It features light-colored cabinets with granite countertops plus toe-kick lighting. It is also easy to access the butler’s pantry that includes darker, ebony-toned cabinets as well as an illuminated storage area to show off an impressive liquor and stemware collection. The ensuite area includes dual sinks and illuminated mirrors as well as accent windows that provide natural light. It also features a spacious ‘wet room’ with an enclosed bathtub and shower. Johnson said the homeowners, in their 50s, wanted to make sure they would be able to age in place well, so the room was designed not to include any barriers or anything that could lead to mobility challenges in the future. In the spirit of “make sure everyone sees how cool this is,” this room was designed to show off amazing artwork that starts with colorful marble on the sink and counters and flows onto the wall as a painting to give the impression of one solid piece. The look is accented with gold leaf elements in the ceiling and a darker toilet and cabinetry. The dominant element of the office area is a bleached wood desk provided by Ironstone Furniture and Fireplace. The room features two sliding glass barn doors that meet in the corner that can provide privacy or access to the rest of the home. The office and the other rooms all include creative and colorful artwork provided by the homeowners.
