Why do you recommend it?
With its “adventure for anyone” flavor, and the trailhead being only 3 minutes from downtown, there isn’t really a more convenient and beautiful place to hike. There is something for everyone as well! From half mile to mile casual family day hikes to multi-mile, difficult, steep, and strenuous single track hikes; there’s something for everyone.

What was most noteworthy?
The varied scenery that is afforded multiple user types is truly unique. Stay on the main “road” and meander down through the trees to the Spokane River and some stunning meadows while enjoying the cool breeze and wildflowers… or wander off on one of several single track trails that lead to multiple high bluffs and cliffs with expansive views of the entire valley.

Know before you go:
Pay attention to the map and colored trail markers. They will lead you through the park and back to the trailhead. If you’re not careful you could end up in Q’emiln Park to the East. Make sure to bring plenty of water as it can get very hot on summer days and while the hiking on the main trail back to the trailhead isn’t hard, it is continually uphill.

How do you get there?
From Interstate 90: take the Spokane Street Exit and head south. Cross the Spokane River and drive past Q’emiln Park on the right. Stay right and proceed up the hill onto West Riverview Drive. After a couple of miles you will crest a short hill and enter a straight section of road; the trailhead will quickly appear on your right. Please do not park on the road if the parking lot is full. Instead head back down to Q’emiln Park and hike into the Community Forest from the east.
