Why do you recommend it?
If you haven’t been to Upper Priest Lake, you owe it to yourself to see it. The Navigation Trail is a nice easy hike that leads you through a beautiful forest to the white sand beaches and amazing views of the lake and the Selkirk Crest.
What was most noteworthy?
If you can, backpack in and camp at either Plowboy or Navigation campsites to enjoy a sunrise and sunset on this beautiful North Idaho lake. Plowboy has five campsites and a vault toilet while Navigation has four campsites. Each have picnic tables and fire ring.
Story continues after a quick message from our sponsor below.
Are there restrooms?
Yes
Know before you go:
This area is grizzly bear habitat, so make sure you are prepared. Fall hikes are a bit less busy, but this is a popular trail so if you are bringing your pup you will want to keep them on a leash.
Where to celebrate after:
Matchwood Brewing in Sandpoint if you’re heading back to Coeurid’Alene.
How do you get there?
From Priest River follow ID 57 north to Nordman, take a right on Reeder Bay Rd. and follow north to Beaver Creek Campground where you will see signs for Navigation Trail trailhead.
