“We were going for a European farmhouse aesthetic,” said Heidi La Bolle, project coordinator and interior designer at Selkirk Construction. “Give it a bit of the Old World vibe, but keep it bright and airy.”
This home in the Fox Hollow neighborhood stays true to the modern aesthetic with clean lines and a neutral color scheme that plays off the contrast between black and white. Custom features such as wood accent panels, stone walls and rough-hewn beams provide the warm, rustic touch associated with both farmhouse and European provincial design.

La Bolle chose custom metal pieces throughout the home, including the kitchen hood, beam turn buckles, mirror brackets and ceiling-hung mounts to complement the Bertazzoni appliances and give the home a unique flair.
The open floor plan allows for a variety of uses, from game nights to holiday gatherings, and creates an inviting space full of warmth, coziness and belonging. A variety of tile work and textures add a playful touch throughout the home.
La Bolle kept the stain, paint colors and natural stone the same on the interior and exterior to create a sense of continuity and cohesiveness between the home’s interior and exterior design.
“Our spring and fall can be chilly, so we made sure to have plenty of outdoor entertaining space that had access to the double-sided fi replace,” La Bolle said. “We have long winters here, so we wanted the home to capture the warmth that some European chalets have.”
An abundance of both covered and uncovered outdoor spaces provide ample opportunities for the homeowners to appreciate the great outdoors, with or without leaving the comfort of their home. The seating area by the waterfall is a centerpiece of the beautiful landscaping.
While the entertainment spaces this home offers are stunning, the master suite is the ultimate relaxation space.
Vaulted ceilings and a wood accent wall make the master bedroom feel open and inviting. The master bath features a walk-in shower, custom soaking tub and dual vanities in addition to a makeup station. The custom cabinetry in the spacious walk-in closet provides plenty of storage and framed forest views.
“The master suite is definitely the showstopper,” said La Bolle. “We added a lot of layers of lighting to help control the mood in the master suite. I can definitely imagine myself taking a bath with a glass of wine while looking out to nature.” N
