Why do you recommend it?
It is easy to get to, and there are quite a few hikes within the refuge that offer great scenery and a good chance to see wildlife. With wetlands, wildlife and the great variety of fl ora there are always interesting things to photograph.
What was most noteworthy?
Noticing the simple things On my sunrise hike along the 30-acre lake trail, I had a leisurely hike but found so many things that caught my eye from spiderwebs to dramatic trees. I had a tough time narrowing down my photos and I didn’t even get any wildlife photos.

Yes.
Know before you go:
There is a 5.5-mile scenic tour which is a one-way road that takes you to various options for hikes. You can walk or drive the scenic loop. March through October have a $3 per car fee.

From Spokane take I-90 West. Take Exit 270 (Highway 904) south to Cheney Plaza Road in Cheney. Follow S. Cheney Plaza Road to south Smith Road.
